Lauren probably doesn’t remember the first time we met at a little cafe in downtown Georgetown, because I was heavily pregnant and probably unrecognizable. She was newly pregnant, out for a brisk walk in lithe leggings and running shoes. (2018 seems to have gotten so much farther away since March.) I remember liking her immediately.

Anyway, we reconnected last year at a Bible study in 309’s backyard while our little’s ran around; her little one was just a wee 3 month old, with big, round, all-noticing, serious eyes with flower-like lashes that stared with wonder and love at her world and at her mother. Lauren is the patient, wise, gentle mom we all aspire to be when we have our first little. She is also a former lawyer, and newly minted author of the children’s book “Santa’s First Race“, (an enchanting story about the little known childhood of Santa Claus and his sleigh).

Creating these for Lauren and her family on the brink of 2020’s chaos feels poignant, important, and beautiful. Finding the beauty and light right now is important for us all. Enjoy these incredible portraits.
