Amy is one of those people who just fascinates you. This tall, blond-haired, stubborn, opinionated, impossibly sweet friend and I met 2 years ago this December at the suggestion of a dear mutual friend. We met at Cafe Medici, a little Austin coffee shop on West Lynn – it was her suggestion, because I was 3 months new to town, and that little place became a favorite for me also. From traveling to boyfriends to life stages, we found so much in common, and even more that we are completely different in. She’s organized, steady, articulate, and aggressively throws herself at her passions. She’s also kind, loves Christmas as much as I do, bakes, throws parties, and loves her man with her whole heart.
Theirs is a special kind of special. She’s the one that can make him light up. (I’ve seen it.) When she asked me to photograph her elopement, I didn’t even have to think about it. After her bridal shower that morning, they eloped on the lawn in front of an Austin cottage, and then we hightailed it to their reception at the gorgeous and stunning Steiner Ranch Steakhouse, and ate and drank and danced and watched the sunset.
“I heard what you said. I’m not the silly romantic you think. I don’t want the heavens or the shooting stars. I don’t want gemstones or gold. I have those things already. I want…a steady hand. A kind soul. I want to fall asleep, and wake, knowing my heart is safe. I want to love, and be loved.” – Shana Abe”
