She is, in every sense of the word, a woman. Powerful, beautiful, wise, graceful, and tough as nails…

I was sure she would say no, but I had to try, so I asked if she would model for me and to my astonishment and delight she said yes in the prettiest English accent I’ve ever heard. 

“There’s a story behind everything. How a picture got on a wall. How a scar got on your face. Sometimes the stories are simple, and sometimes they are hard and heartbreaking. But behind all your stories is always your mother’s story, because hers is where yours begin.”

Is there even anything better than a baby at Christmas? 

Even though the majority of the portraits I take are now in my new Georgetown photography studio on the square, I still relish the chance to do a lovely “Lifestyle” shoot with a family or newborn. 

What makes a lifestyle shoot different from a studio shoot? A few things…

From wedding to maternity to newborn to every family photo, one of my favorite things is being there from the beginning and becoming the family photographer. Nothing is as sacred as family, and being present in their lives every year is an honor. 

Megan said this to me afterwards:

You made me feel really pretty, Anna… I haven’t felt that in a long time. I’m serious, I cried. You really blew my mind! I love my photos, I will cherish them always.

What on earth is better than 4 generations of women getting together to celebrate the life and legacy of their matriarch?

Meeting Emily was certainly a highlight of this summer. In town to visit her grandparents, this small-town Kansas beauty absolutely lit up in front of my camera.
